Mission and Scope

Policy Making – Latin American Public Policy Review is dedicated to advancing the field of public policy, with particular attention to the Latin American context and the dialogue between theory and practice. The journal upholds international standards of scientific rigor, editorial transparency, and academic ethics, providing a qualified and plural platform for the dissemination of knowledge.

Policy Making – Latin American Public Policy Review is a continuous publication promoted by the National Institute of Science and Technology – Quality of Government and Policies for Sustainable Development (INCT QualiGov).

The journal organizes its content into four main sections:

  • Analytics, which publishes original scientific articles;
  • Expertos, which features applied analyses, practical experiences, and case studies;
  • Up-to-Date, dedicated to notes on recent bibliographic releases; and
  • Utilities, which publishes research sources, databases, and supporting materials.

Policy Making conceives public policy as a multidisciplinary field and seeks to contribute to the formation and strengthening of its epistemic community.

Originality

The journal publishes original and unpublished articles that demonstrate scientific or applied relevance in the field of public policy and related areas. Manuscripts under simultaneous review by other journals will not be considered.

Submissions will be accepted that: (i) present original theoretical, methodological, or empirical contributions; and (ii) promote comparative analyses of public policies, with particular emphasis on Latin America.

Scope

Policy Making follows a rolling publication model and accepts manuscripts in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Thematic dossier proposals are also welcome and are subject to the same evaluation procedures applied to all journal submissions.

Analytics: Gathers original scientific articles aimed at enhancing the international visibility of high-quality research produced in Latin America. This section seeks to consolidate a reference space for innovative and methodologically robust studies.

Expertos: Focused on applied analyses, experience reports, and case studies, this section aims to bridge academic debate and policy practice, promoting the exchange of knowledge useful for solving concrete governance challenges.

Up-to-Date: Dedicated to the dissemination of notes and reviews on the most recent bibliographic releases across Latin America. This section seeks to keep the academic and professional communities informed about the latest trends and significant advances in public policy.

Utilities: Presents research sources, databases, and support materials for scholars and public managers. Its purpose is to provide tools that enhance both the quality of scientific production and the effectiveness of public administration practice.
